Mastering Parallel Ski Turns
Mastering Parallel Ski Turns
I am not a ski instructor and I don't even play one on TV. However, as the quest for the elusive parallel turn is a common one, I thought that I would write an article on this topic.Mastering Parallel Ski Turns

An Irreverent Guide To Ski Vacations
As you've probably figured out, I love to write about ski destinations. While most editors want a "just the facts" article about a ski vacation, the editor of Zonder.com likes stuff that is over the top. Gee, I wish I always got assignments like these:

A Breckenridge Mystery
As some of you might know, I am working on a project that would benefit both the Backstage Theatre and the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance. The concept involves a dramatic script that would be performed progressively as vistors visit each of the Breckenridge Historic sites.
Once I came up with the project idea, I had a major mental block about what to put in the script. Then, I came across a writing contest that asked for a 1500 word mystery story that would be written on a 6th grade reading level. The suspects needed to be listed at the start of the story, and I only had a very short time to complete it.
In a workshop at the Backstage Theatre, Murphy Funkhouser once said that you can come up with your best work under pressure. While I would not exactly call this my best work, it did get me off my butt to get the basic story. Due to word count restrictions, I was not able to do the characterizations much justice. However, it's a start. Needless to say, when it becomes a script, there will be some obvious changes, but for now, take a look:

Help! Film Crew Needed in Summit County
Well, I might be getting my big break, but I need your help. An independent publishing comapny has offered to produce my ski fitness video. The caveat: They don't have the budget to send a crew to Colorado, but they do have a "small" budget if I can find a local crew. Anyone know anyone who knows someone? Send them my way!
Thanks!
Thanks!

The Liberation of Snowboard Outreach Society
This winter, I will be the first two-planker to become a mentor for the Snowboard Outreach Society
You can read more about them on their website, but basically, the program involves taking kids at risk and teaching them basic values. This values are applied throughout their five days on the snow. This will be the first year that they will be adding skiing. In order to maintain their ski passes, the kids must complete a certain number of hours of community service. We began this past Saturday by participating in Make a Difference Day in Frisco. My team helped clean up one of the trails. Throughout the season, I will hopefully get my group involved with projects for the Backstage Theatre and the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance. Check this blog regularly for details.

The Diva Web of Fame
What a nice birthday present! I have been inducted into the Diva Web of Fame
This got me thinking. There is a guy on a message forum that likes to wax poetic about his hatred of Baby Boomers. This gentleman would have you believe that all of the evils of the world were caused by people of the Boomer generation. I say hogwash, but I wonder what would inspire such hatred, Then, I realized that those of us who were born during the Boomer years have a distinct quality: We refuse to act our age! Is this a bad thing? No way! As boomers, we are a generation that strives to continually reinvent ourselves, even when others would prefer if we stayed stagnant...
But who cares what others would prefer. So, to all other Boomer Divas out there: Shine On!
